On a semi-rural treed lot on the outskirts of Perth we are designing a home with no walls or roof - or to be more precise, the roof becomes the wall, and vice versa ! The unique oval shaped section of this home will make for some fascinating internal spaces, and large cut-outs in the 'form' will allow solar access and cross breezes. Timber slats and decking will relate the home back to nature, while the curved forms create a more 'organic' approach to how a building sits in its landscape. The home will sit on a raised concrete 'plinth' providing thermal mass, while the depth of the structural system will allow us to super - insulate both roof and walls. The home design won the 2016 BDAWA Award for best Conceptual/Unbuilt Design for the year.
